The next Jr. Fair Board Meeting will be
on Tuesday, July 17 at 7 PM in the Sr. Fair Board Office
A Note about Club Booths: The building is being painted and
updated. The wire fencing around
each booth is being changed to roping.
The building is manned at all times, but valuable items (things you
would miss) should be left out of your booth display.
Clubs are once again being asked to
help clean up the show arena after each show. When you pick up your fair packet, make
sure you check the sign up sheet and mark the show your club can help with.
SWINE EXHIBITORS: Bonecutter
Drilling and Bob & Judy Gump are donating nipple water systems for the
swine barn. If you do not want one
installed, please make a note on your stall. The system will be installed on Saturday,
August 11. If you do not mark your
stall, it will be installed.

Fair Book Rule Changes
Changes to the Jr. Fair Small Animal Division:
All
animals shown in the Small Animal Division must be taken home after all the
classes are completed.
Peacocks
have been added to the Large Exotic classes.
Changes to the Jr. Fair Poultry Division:
To enter a
chicken in Layer classes, you must take the Raising Pullets project.
There is a
five bird limit with only one bird per class, for both Fancy and Layer in
Chickens. This means an exhibitor
may only bring a total of 5 chickens, fancy and layer combined. (For example, 3 fancy and 2 layer, 5 fancy 0 layer, etc.) This same rule applies to ducks, for a
total of 5 ducks in any combination of layer and fancy.
The limit
for layer and fancy in turkeys and geese is 2 total with one per class.
The
varieties have been removed from the poultry classes – breeds only
are listed.
Changes to the Jr. Fair Dog Division:
The Dog
Show has been moved to Friday, August 17.
Any Jr. Fair dog exhibitor will be permitted to bring their dog to the
fairgrounds after 7 PM on Thursday night, ONLY if the exhibitor’s
family is are registered campers for the week of the fair. All dogs must go home after the show.
For
Showmanship, exhibitors must have taken the Grooming and Handling
project. Questions asked during the
interview will com from the Grooming and Handling and Dog Care project
books.
New for
2007 – Llama Show
The Junior Fair Llama exhibits will no longer be shown as part of
the Small Animal Large Exotics class.
Check your fair book for the correct class number to enter the Jr.
Fair Llama Show. The show will be
run in conjunction with the Open Class Llama Show which will be on Sunday
morning, August 19.
Market
Poultry Deadlines for 2007
Turkeys – May not be
older than 22 weeks at fair. Must be
born after March 14.
Chickens – Must be 5-8 weeks old at fair. Must be born between
June 20-July 11.
Ducks – May not be older than 8 weeks at fair. Must be born
after June 20.
Geese – Must be 10-13 weeks old by fair. Must be born between May 16–June 6.
Rabbit Deadlines for 2007
All rabbits must be owned and part of your rabbit
project no later than the May 12 Tag In.
All rabbits must be brought to the May 12 Tag In to be ear
tagged if they need it and to be checked for disease. All does being used for doe and
litter class and does being used for the market pen litters must be
ear tattooed and checked on May 12.
Rabbits need to be bred between May 2
and May 16, 2007 to produce Market Fryer pens. The fryers should be born between May 29
and June 12 and must be 9 to 11 weeks old and weigh between 4 and 6 pounds
at fair time.
