  2. JEFFERSON COUNTY EXTENSION OFFICE CLOSED THESE DATES IN AUGUST:

    Aug. 11, 2021

    Jefferson County Extension staff will be setting up for the county fair today, August 11, 2021. Since all staff will be unavailable from 10AM to 4:30PM, the downtown office will be closed. We will return 12PM August 12 to accept walk-in visits.

    The office will also be closed during business hours August 16th-20th since staff will be out assisting with Jefferson County Fair activities.

    We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

  3. No 4-H Rabbit Hopping on Monday, July 4th, 2021

  4. Farm Pesticide Disposal Schedule Now Available

    The Ohio Department of Agriculture will be sponsoring three collection events for farmers wishing to dispose of unwanted pesticides. This year, the collections are happening in Morrow, Portage and Butler counties on the following days and locations:

    August 12, 8AM – 3PM: Morrow County, Morrow County Fairgrounds,195 South Main Street, Mt. Gilead, Ohio 43338

     

    August 17, 9AM – 3PM: Portage County, Deerfield Ag Services 9041 US-224, Deerfield, Ohio 44411

  6. Jefferson County Extension Back to Regular Business Hours

    As of today, June 1, the Jefferson County Extension office is back to normal hours - Mondays through Fridays 8AM to 4:30pm! If you are dropping off forms or purchasing soil kits and publications, stop by anytime during our regular hours. If you need to chat with one of our staff (example: talk to Leslie to discuss cloverbud activities or talk to Erika to discuss what's wrong with my plant), call ahead before visiting to make sure they are available to assist you. Samples (plants or insects) can also be dropped off during business hours for identification.

  7. ODA And OSU Extension Kick Off 2021 Ohio Victory Gardens Program

    REYNOLDSBURG, OH (March 30, 2021) – It’s time to get your hands dirty and start growing! The Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) and OSU Extension Offices are kicking off the second year of the Victory Gardens Program. Due to high demand, the program is expanding from 10 to 25 counties across the state, with 8,300 seed packets available free to the public to get people planting.

  8. ODA Proposed Rules for Spotted Lanternfly - 901:5-56

    Now that the spotted lanternfly has been identified in Jefferson County, the Ohio Department of Agriculture Division of Plant Health has drafted new rules in Chapter 901:5-56 to address the invasive insect. On March 10, 2021, the rules were submitted to stakeholders. The stakeholder comment period will remain open until March 24, 2021.

  10. Spotted Lanternfly Update 1/25/21

    Since there is now an established Spotted Lanternfly population in Jefferson County, be on the look out for quarantine procedures for the area in the near future from the Ohio Department of Agriculture. Once the rules are publicly available, we will post them here on our county website and Facebook page.
