In Ohio, there are 624 species of spiders, each encompassing multiple types. Among the most encountered spiders in residential areas are the Daddy Long-Legs Spider, Wolf Spiders, and Crab Spiders. However, it is possible to encounter any of the spider species in or around your home.

Of the 60+ types of spiders found in Ohio, only one is non-venomous. Fortunately, most of these spiders pose no threat to humans or pets, as they are either too small or their venom is adapted to affect only their insect prey.

There are only two spiders in Ohio that present a significant danger to humans and other animals: the Brown Recluse and the Black Widow. Thankfully, these spiders are not commonly found in the state.
