  4. Maximizing Pasture Health: The Benefits and Implementation of Rotational Grazing

    Rotational grazing is a strategic approach to livestock management that involves systematically moving grazing animals from one paddock to another. A paddock is a small section of a larger field, enclosed by a fence. This method allows forage to regrow in a healthy manner, preventing overgrazing and promoting soil enrichment through manure and organic matter. When livestock graze freely in one large field continuously, the forage does not have time to regrow, leading to soil degradation and reduced pasture productivity.

    Learn all about management intensive grazing through the Harrison County Grazing School! Grazing School classes will be offered in at the Scio Branch Library in Scio, OH as a three-part series this year. Anyone interested in pasture management and forages is welcome to join the course, and those new to livestock and hay production are encouraged to participate. Topics covered include management intensive grazing, goal setting, improving soil fertility and forage growth, meeting animal needs, water quality, paddock design, grazing economics, and year-round grazing.

    ATTENTION FARMERS, SMALL BUSINESS ENTITIES: If your farm business is registered as an LLC, corporation, or limited partnership, you are required to file Beneficial Ownership Information Reports with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FINCen - fincen.gov) by the end of the year. FINCen was created through the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) passed by Congress several years ago.
